The story is set aboard a ship called USG Ishimura, trapped within an asteroid field for over 200 years by a rogue artificial intelligence known as EDI (Extraterrestrial Device Interface). The crew had been trying to escape when they encountered some kind of virus causing them chaos, thus creating the need for more space suits since there was no other way out except through venting into space itself!
